Spring is Here!!!!! Part 1

It's Spring!!!! Spring is an incredible time of year for you and the world around you. The world is in bloom, things turn from brown and dead to green and alive, and we are reminded that we can restart and bloom as well. In this four-part series, I plan (notice I said plan as I am so easily sidetracked) to cover these four topics...

1) In this post, we will talk about spring cleaning and even pick out a plant to brighten your room

2) Some spring fashion. Just some inspiration for spring and some of my own spring fashion staples.

3) Some Spring Motivational quotes and reminders

4) Blooming in your own life

Hopefully, I can cover all these topics, which I'm super excited about, before my attention span flies out the window and I get hyped for another topic.

So let's dive into it! Spring comes, and as the days begin to warm, it's a perfect time to open your bedroom windows and do your own spring cleaning. Your parents may be doing their own spring cleaning, but there is a certain satisfaction that comes from deep cleaning, organizing, and decluttering your space.

I know many of us share rooms with younger siblings so this can be a bit challenging, but you can always just focus on what you have power over or get them involved in doing their things as well. I strongly encourage my last suggestion as it can really inspire them to start taking more responsibility for themselves. I have gotten children as young as 3 and 4 involved in spring cleaning, and it can be amazing what they can get done when you give them a chance and some guidance.

Getting Started:

The best way to begin is often just getting yourself into the mindset of cleaning. Gather the supplies you may need such as a few boxes for putting things away versus getting rid of or gifting to someone, cleaning spray, a rag, a broom, and a vacuum. Pick a day when you can open your windows so you can air out the room and get a blast of fresh air. If you can, turn on some tunes that relax and get you moving. I also like to make myself a big thing of floral iced tea just to really put myself in the spring mood as well.

Get Cleaning:

Start cleaning. It often helps to make a list of the tasks you want to accomplish. This includes regular cleaning tasks like tidying and vacuuming as well as more deep cleaning like wiping windows, doors and getting rid of clutter. I have included a sample checklist I found online at Creating Mary's Home below, which you can use or use as inspiration to make your own. If the first link doesn't work, the second should lead you directly to the source, where you can easily print it.

Celebrate!:

You did it! You cleaned out your room. Now, to celebrate spring and your accomplishment, let's plant a flower in your room. You could attempt to grow one from seed, but for better luck, I usually prefer to get a plant that has already been nurtured so I can more easil
y transition it into my room. You can get small plants from local gardening stores or stores like Trader Joes, Lowes, or Giant. Below is a list of a few super easy plants to keep alive in your bedroom for a little life and nature:

1. Spider plants
2. Begonias
3. Purple Tradescantia
4. Snake plant
5. Heart-leaf Philodendron
6. English Ivy
7. Golden Pothos
8. Peace Lily
9. Aloe Vera
10. African Violets (I have one of these in my room!)

If you can't have a plant just sitting around, another good way to add some green into your life is to make a miniature terrarium for your room. These can include plants, minifigures, and all kinds of fun items and themes.

Let me know if this was helpful! As always, thanks for reading and I love to hear from you guys!
